About KAREN

Karen DeGuzman is the baker, cake artist, and sole operator of Butter Baby Bakery, with the added help and support of her loving husband, Jonathan. She graduated from The Art Institute of Austin in Baking & Pastry, and has been a trained Cake Decorator and Pastry Chef since 2013.

Karen originally started at Common Bond Cafe & Bakery. Moving from Austin, she was brought to create and design an entire line and style of cakes for a bakery that did not sell any. It was there where she worked for 3 years to truly create a vision of designs that would later become the known style for Common Bond.

Later realizing that she needed more for herself, she truly wanted to create solely for herself and her alone. She yearned for creating new flavors and playing around with designs, and thus resulted in Butter Baby Bakery. With Butter Baby Bakery, Karen's goal is ito be inventive and playful with her flavors and designs pulling from her desire to create, wildly & playfully designed cakes & desserts.

Karen's hope is that with Butter Baby Bakery she can evoke emotion with her artfully designed desserts & cakes.
